Realizing peace and development in post-colonial Africa has been a daunting task due to a number of reasons. This is partly due to the widespread protracted internal conflicts which bedeviled the continent since the end of the Cold War. Solutions in the form of strategies, policies and programmes have been implemented focusing on various issues ranging from economic growth to political transformation, including democratization and good governance. Recently, a poverty reduction program (PRSP) has been rolled out with a focus to bring about pro-poor results through comprehensive and country-owned strategies. This book critically assesses the conflict sensitivity of these strategies by exploring the process and content of Ethiopia's PRSP. It begins by examining the extent to which the country's PRSP have considered the major structural problems which have been a source of crises. In this regard, the book finds out that the country's PRSP has failed to address the fundamental structural and systemic causes of poverty, underdevelopment and inequality which are at root of conflicts in the country.
