This collection sets up an exhilarating encounter between the novelist Marcel Proust, the philosopher Gilles Deleuze, and the writer Samuel Beckett. Both Deleuze and Beckett wrote monographs on Proust, while Deleuze wrote extensively about Beckett, in both his solo work and in his joint writing with Guattari. Yet, up until now, there has been no full-length study which has brought the three writers together. Combining their specialist scholarship in Beckett, Deleuze, and Proust, Mary Bryden and Margaret Topping have assembled an international line-up of scholars, including renowned experts in all three fields. The study creates interdisciplinary and inter-aesthetic bridges between the three writers, covering textual, visual, sonic and performative phenomena, as well as including provocative and imaginative speculation about how Proust might have responded to Deleuze and Beckett.
