Anotace knihy

Survivorship is a rapidly growing field of study in oncology and medicine overall. As the population of cancer survivors grows, an efficient and proactive system of care must be put in place to meet their long term needs. This book addresses just such a model as developed by the world famous MD Anderson Cancer Center. Cancer Survivorship is divided into 5 sections. The first is an introduction to models of care and community care integration. The second is disease specific, with 12 distinct chapters each covering surveillance, screening for recurrent disease, late effects of treatment, and psychosocial functioning for that specific disease. The third section addresses cancer prevention and screening. The fourth details complications of treatment which may occur in different organs or systems due to specific treatments. The fifth section is devoted to psychological and social health and recovery, addressing crosscutting issues such as divorce, unemployment, and social support networks. The book concludes with additional information on resources for patients and providers.
