Anotace knihy

This book is a work about the mathematical theory of knots and its links with the topological theory of combinatorial surfaces. The work covers the properties of knot diagrams, introduces some polynomials associated to isotopy classes of knots and the formally defines a knot from the topological point of view. Finally, the Seifert surface associated with a knot is defined. In the Appendix, some ruled surfaces constructed on torus knots are shown.
