The short-story, is one of the most important literary subgenres in Urdu literature, despite its relative youth. This was influenced by western and literary concepts and tendencies, as well as the contemporary industrial and mechanized environment. Upendranath Ashk was a famous Urdu novelist, short story writer, poet and playwright. In his short stories, he has presented the attitudes of the common people of his time which are more or less the same even today and there has not been much difference between them. From the perspective of historical comparison, the study of his short stories is of interest. This book "Be-basi (Helplessness)" is a collection of short stories written by Upendranath Ashk.
