Susie is one of my sweet sisters in the Lord. I cherish the times we have spent praying together. I have watched her open up and blossom in the Lord. She has become a sweet aroma unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. -Janet Claunch We met Ms. Susie about ten years ago when we joined the church she attends. We saw her on Sundays and at the occasional fellowship meal but did not have the chance to spend enough time with her to know her story. Eventually, I (Emily) began serving with Ms. Susie on our local jail ministry team. Heading into a small room with several inmates and Ms. Susie as our Bible teacher, I was not afraid, but I knew that, should anything dangerous happen, I was on my own. Ms. Susie is tiny. Hugging her is a joy, but best done with tenderness as she seems fragile. These were my thoughts on that first day in the jail, but then she started teaching. I have attended women's conferences where nationally-known Bible teachers were featured speakers, but I have never witnessed more powerful, spirit-filled teaching as I did in the little jail library. She speaks with authority and love combined into a method that reaches the hearts and minds of those who listen. I am better for having heard her carefully researched and studied lessons and for knowing Ms. Susie as a dear friend. Ms. Susie is an inspiration. She has had her share of difficulties in life but is always looking for opportunities to share how God has blessed her beyond measure. She is one of the most pleasant, peaceful and joyful women we know. The fruits of the Spirit are evident in her life. Her joy is contagious! We can't wait to read the book about her life, her family, and her walk with Jesus. -Jeff and Emily Golden
