Attempts were made to work it some years ago, but patience and perseverance are said to have been wanting. As this is not a quarter of the country in which persons reside who are accustomed to hazard any thing in pursuit of mineral riches, it is probable also that a suit able expenditure of capital was wanting. At one time, some cart-loads of ore were dug up in making a road. Some of it is said to have been reduced into metal, and that the ore was found very rich.
