For decades, Aung San Suu Kyi is known as a symbol of democracy and human rights in Burma and her fight against the military that named the country Myanmar. However, little is still known about her political philosophy and program. This book helps closing this gap. It contains translations of 25 of her talks to her followers given in 1995 and 1996 over the gate of her house in which she had been confined under house arrest since July 1989. In these talks, she answered questions of her followers put in her mailbox. Transcripts of these talks were up to now only published in Japan in Burmese. They provide a view into Aung San Suu Kyi's thinking and her relationship with the people who listened to her.
