About the Author: Ashleigh Victoria was born in November, 1991 in Bundaberg, Australia. Her parents both had disabilities, and her mother fell ill during her schooling years. As a result, Ashleigh left her own education behind to care for her mother. Ashleigh is one of five children, and the youngest by fourteen years. All her siblings were living by themselves when she was born; some even had children of their own. Ashleigh now has twenty-three nieces and nephews, as well as almost five great nieces and nephews. Ashleigh's school years were chaotic. She attended five different schools in the space of three years, and developed childhood depression. As a result, everything she knows was agonisingly self-taught. Ashleigh has been writing since the first moment she realized she could. This is the first novel that struck a deep enough chord to be completed. She got the idea for Subhuman when her mother passed away in 2012. She thought, 'Wouldn't it be great if something could take this pain away?' This thought turned into a tool that helped her get through a time of grieving. She lives with her 3-year-old daughter, who is the funniest toddler you'll ever meet, and her future husband, who is only slightly less funny. They now live not far from Bundaberg where Ashleigh was born.
