This book contributes to our understanding of second language (L2) grammar teaching through an in-depth analysis of teachers' classroom practices. These document what teachers actually do when they teach grammar, and provide insights into the factors which shape teachers' instructional choices in this aspect of their work. Second Language Grammar Teaching begins with a discussion of the major issues which characterise theoretical and pedagogical discussions of grammar teaching, and provides a detailed examination of the major concepts in this area of language teaching. The book studies L2 grammar teaching from the perspective of teachers, and examines a wide-range of classroom case studies from the UK, Europe, Africa and the Far East. Simon Borg looks at the implications of these studies for our understanding of L2 grammar teaching, and shows how these can be beneficial to teacher educators. This book will be useful to masters students and researchers working in the fields of ESL, EFL and TESOL.
