The training and use of memory was crucial in medieval culture, given the limited literacy at the time, but the ways in which gender affected this has been little studied. The essays here consider the complex relationships between memory, gender and time in literary texts, and how such interactions are frequently ideologically driven, drawing on recent theoretical trends.
