Excerpt from Injuries of Joints The object of this little book is to attempt to give some help in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries of joints in a form which will be useful to the hundreds of practitioners who have left the quiet paths of private practice for the more eventful career of military surgery. The injuries they may have to deal with may vary from a twist or sprain due to a fall on rough ground to a complicated gunshot wound. For the minor injuries the ordinary advice given in peace time, namely rest, is not enough, as the soldier must be returned fit for duty in the shortest possible time, while the more serious injuries are outside the ordinary experience of general practice.
