John Carson is a Londoner who has lived in Weston-super-Mare for most of the past 40 years. In the mid-1980's, he began collecting earthenwares produced by "The Bristol Pottery," which was the factory associated with the name "Pountney" for much of its long history. As his knowledge of the Pottery increased, he became conscious of the many gaps that existed in the published information available, particularly in regard to the actual wares produced. Consequently, he saw a need for a comprehensive publication covering the whole period from the time creamware succeeded delftware at Temple Back in the late eighteenth century until the Pottery's last years in Cornwall in the 1970's. The results of his researches are now brought together in this book.
