Anotace knihy

In large parts of Europe, biomethane production is a growth market. For instance, Germany currently operates about 8.000 biogas plants with about 3.75 GW installed capacity for power generation mainly via CHP technology. Furthermore, approximately 150 of this biogas plants upgrade their biogas and afterwards inject biomethane into the natural gas grid. Biomethane offers a variety of excellences, e. g. in the fields of climate protection, sustainability, energy efficiency, reduction of import dependency and can be applied to different utilization routes, such as delocalized combined heat and power generation, in the heat sector or in the transportation sector as fuel for CNG or LNG vehicles.§Technical and scientific aspects of biogas production, upgrading and injection are main subjects of this reference book. The relevant scientific background is explained with comprehensible approaches and examples. Beside technology based contents on biogas process engineering case studies and country-specific experiences on biogas injection are displayed in detail. In addition, ecological and economic issues are addressed thoroughly. Best practice data from manufacturers and operators are complimented by the latest scientific findings of relevant R&D institution. All stakeholders in the field of biogas and biomethane will find interesting information for their daily business. The concept of the book was successfully realized in two German editions in 2010 and 2013 and is refined with respect to international developments and requirements. To reach this aim a team of international experts are joining the German authors.
